So Proud

Wednesday we had our Parent/Teacher Conference for Hannah with Mrs. Conway and Mrs. Stack. I was soooooo nervous going in. You see, I am one of those moms who wants my child to excel in everything she does and have had a hard time realizing that doesn't always happen. Don't get me wrong, Hannah is a very smart little girl, but she definately has some focusing issues and has a hard time sitting still. She had never really shown a huge interest in reading, getting through her letters last year was a constant battle. I think deep down inside it makes me feel like at some point I failed her, at some crucial developmental phase I didn't teach her how to sit still or didn't instill in her the desire to learn/read. So here I go, by myself, to her conference, expecting the worst. (I am sure you see where this is going). Mrs. Conway had her stuff in a neat little stack but all I could focus on was this one page sticking out that had in big red writing - 100% Wonderful! Yep, she had done so well on her math assessment. I was not surprised on that one, she has always favored math/science stuff like me. Then Mrs. Stack started telling me how disappointed she was gonna be to lose Hannah in December because she was doing so well in Reading Recovery that she would no longer need that extra attention. Mrs. Conway then started talking about how good it was to see Hannah going from the lower end of the class on reading to one of the best readers in the class. It was just like one of those Sylvan commercials. I don't know how I didn't break down right then and there but I didn't. Mrs. Conway even gave her a good mark for behavior. This is a huge accomplishment. So then I stuck around to go with Hannah to her reading class and it was amazing. She is reading and figuring out crazy words. This was the good news I needed to happen this week. This was God's gift to me this week that definately lifted my spirits and made me realize that with all of the craziness I have in my life right now we are gonna make it and we are gonna be just fine. And I truly attribute all of this to my renewed devotion to prayer and God. I don't know why, but over the last two months I have really felt drawn to him, like I needed him more than ever and have really prayed alot about me and my family. This is the answered prayer I have needed.
Lord, Thank you for this blessing. Thank you for reminding me how wonderful my little princess is. Please continue to show me how to be a good mother for my children and how to be an example of a humble, prayerful christian mom. Amen

Weekly Recap

Here is how my week shaped up:
Jackson - ended up being sick off and on all week. Monday he was home with me. Tuesday I thought he was better so I sent him to Cheryl's only to have him wake up from nap with fever so I had to go get him around 3:30. Wednesday and Thursday he stayed home with Papa Dave. Friday he went back to Cheryl's but we did start him on some oral steroids/breathing treatments because of croup. Of course with him being sick we did not go on our annual trip to the pumpkin patch. I was very upset about that but don't wanna make anyone else in our extended family sick.
Hannah - is great! Absolutely nothing exciting to report on her except she is reading like crazy and I love it.
Scott - had an awesome week. He got to go to the Vice President Biden speach in St. Louis. Political views aside it is a once in a lifetime experience to be on stage with the second in command.
He is also looking amazing. He hasn't lost but about 8-10 pounds, but all that PE is making him look hot! He has lost almost all his beer belly and has a very nice set of pecs! Which brings me to. . .
Me - after seeing Scott when he got home I have decided to reinstate my diet. I am gonna use the weight watchers points system and should have weekly posts on my loss. At work we have a weight loss challenge going on until Thanksgiving so I would like to lose 15 pounds before then. Keep me motivated girls!
Thats about it. School is going ok, we have about 8 more weeks until Christmas break! Then only one more semester! Yeah me!

One of THOSE Mondays!

My day today started out at 4 am with little Jack Jack climbing in to bed. This is nothing new, however, he doesn't usually feel like he has been under a heat lamp. So at first I am thinking WOW how nice he was to come snuggle with me, it was a little chilly in the house this morning so I needed a snuggle bug. Then it hit me that hmmmmmmmm he is really warm. That's right, you guessed it, Jack had a fever. 101.4 to be exact, nothing to write home about, but enough that I had to spend the day with him. Dr. Mom has decided that he just has a cold because he has no other symptoms and has not ran a fever all day on top of the fact that I have a cold. Unless something changes my diagnosis is it is just a common cold. So hopefully tommorow we are both back at daycare and school/work.

STJ. . . All The Way!

Well, the Tiger Football team didn't win last night but that's ok because there was the cutest group of cheerleaders you've ever seen there. The Varsity Cheerleaders held a fundraiser and had a mini-camp for the elementary school girls. They got to cheer for an entire quarter! Hannah had a blast! Here are some cute pictures.

Prayer Request

Ok blog girls! I am calling/counting on you. Without going into tremendous detail I will try to make it short and sweet. Pray for my mom - she has her third blood clot in her leg. She has been under a tremendous amount of stress lately (due to the next two requests) and her clot has returned. Pray for my brother, Brent - he is battling drug addiction but is in a good, safe, Christian environment now so pray he gives God a chance to heal him. Pray for my sister, Rachel - she is having alot of stomach issues and pain after eating to the point she won't hardly eat. They can't figure out what is wrong, maybe it is from the stress in the house, not sure. I think that pretty well covers it.
